Technological cutting process of shoe uppers parts of natural leather

Since natural leather is a specific material that passes through different phases of processing and treatment from raw to finished leather, the process of cutting leather has certain specificities. To cut leather, various types of machinery and equipment can be used (hydraulic and automatic cutting machines), tools and equipment (steel blades for hand cutting, blades made from special types of steel according to the shape and size of the cutting parts of footwear, jigs, etc.). This paper describes the composition of leather and the type and characteristics of natural leather. Furthermore, rules for cutting the parts of the shoe upper of natural leather as well as knowledge of stretching directions of certain parts of the leather surface are described. The paper also describes the functionality of the most important parts of the shoe upper and technological requirements for processing as well as techniques, rules and order of cutting the parts of the shoe upper.
