Abstract:

Due to the frequent occurrence of poor print fastness on natural leather and insufficient investigation of possible applications of Inkjet printing on such substrates, print fastness on semi processed bovine leather printed on a piezoelectric UV LED Inkjet printer was tested in this study. The quality of prints achieved using CMYK process dyes on impregnated samples of leather with natural grain (crustnatur) were analyzed by evaluating print fastness after exposure to simulated conditions of use – dry and wet rubbing, water, water spotting, and accelerated ageing with heat and artificial light according to the standardized test methods. High quality of prints and excellent print fastness on impregnated semi processed bovine leather were determined.
